Berlin through the times. A photo book about the multifaceted capital, which is reinventing itself every day, and a portrait of the people who live in it and who have made it what it is today.
There are heaps of books about Berlin, why create another one? We asked ourselves the question at the beginning of this project, but it soon was apperent that the point is not to make “the one book”, but instead to add another perspective and let the readers decide for themselves.
This project was a pitch that unfortunately didn’t come to fruition. The double pages shown here give an impression of the direction the book should have taken. A monochrome color palette of gray on gray provides a restrained background from which the photographs emerge on works of their own.
Large typography means that the interviews can still be clearly identified when reading them with the book resting on the coffee table.
Selective finishing with special varnishes and printing on different papers lend a high-quality appearance to the project.
There can’t be enough beautiful photo books about the mother city!
